Dean Murray

Dean Murray is the Captain Scarlet to Clemens Jericho's Captain Black.

Dean began his music career at a relatively late age, after a fabulously successful career as a foot model. Born into a life of extreme wealth as the son of Wilhelmina Murray, the host of primetime ratings phenomenon Shoes and Handbags, Dean slipped naturally into a world of loafers and pringle socks. However, at the age of 27, worn down by the constant pressure to maintain his eponychiums and paronychiums, as well as the incessant nuisance phone calls from several high profile foot fetishists, Dean decided to express the pain of his privileged life as a Caucasian man in the most appropriate way possible: as a Blues artist.

Dean took his first tentative steps into the music business with his eponymous band Mr Murray. After several abortive attempts at song writing, Dean's career finally began to move forward with the release of his first single The Grand Duke of Devo-Cornwall on Vendetta Records. Followed shortly afterwards by the single Medium Pimpin', Dean was now a fixture on the Blues touring circuit, alongside veteran artists such as Floyd Vick, Nancy Hobson and Brian Amesbury.

Always a proponent of the Blues community, Dean founded Meduim Pimpin' Enterprises with the aim of creating more Blues genre clubs. The first of these, The Blues: London, gave CEO jobs to aspiring Blues artists Phil Duffy and Sheila Keogh. Sheila would go on to almost corner the Blues club market with her chain of Ray's Blues clubs.

Looking for a change, Dean sold his chain of clubs and announced that he would soon be joining Clemens Jericho's band the Poets of June, along with off-beat lyricist Ella Schoolar. World tours and two moderately successful albums followed, but Dean was never truly as happy as a band member as he was as a solo artist. Dean left the Poets, but still has fond memories of the music (PoJ > j00 in particular) and the tour bus sex.

Now recording as Mr Murray once again, Dean hopes to put together a double album of duets before deciding what other projects he might tackle.

• Dean regards Ella Schoolar’s I Injected Cancer into Your Spleen (For a Laugh) is the greatest song in Popo-history.
• Dean advised Clemens Jericho when he was courting Edith Hellewell that “that girl is fucking yampy”. He stands by this opinion.
• Dean designed all the logos for Clemens Jericho’s worldwide chain of Jazz clubs. Except the rubbish ones.
