Beth Christou

Beth Christou-Johnson appeared in Popmundo on 4th of January 2007.

Apart from her music, Beth's well-known for her work with It's POP! and her philanthropy work with the City Relief Fund.

She was born Bethany Madison Christou on January 4th, to an Australian father, John and an Canadian mother, Maree. When Beth was a year old, her father left her mother, and her mother made the decision to move back to Toronto to be close to family. Beth has not seen or had any contact with her father since.

Some years later, Maree remarried to a man, Beth calls her father, Tom. Maree and Tom had three children together, Beth's half siblings in James, Ruby & Mia. Tragically, Tom passed away after the birth of Mia, leaving the family completely devastated.

Maree had a fleeting affair with a handsome latin man named, Juan Bravo. It resulted in the birth of Ashton, a sister that Beth doted on. The girls remain firm friends, often running to each other when something goes array.

Beth was popular amongst her friends, and had many boyfriends (and girlfriends) during her time during high school. Her most serious boyfriend, was Bernie Ullman, who would later become her band mate in 'Emulsion'. Beth went to high school in Toronto and dreamed of studying film at New York University. She applied and was never accepted, this devastated her.

During her time in New York City, she met Marlon Stone. The two dated on and off for many years and eventually had two children together.

Kim Browne was elected the Mayor of Melbourne and Beth became a police officer for the city. Driven by dedicated and a passion for fighting crime, Van was recently promoted to elected Chief Justice, and after seeing how hard Beth worked, Kim promoted Beth to Chief of Police. (Former Cheif of Police, Enoch Thomas was kidnapped and never seen again). Beth revitalised the station, hired new officers and began to fight crime viciously. Her relationship with Van Johnstone went under the microscope in the tabloids within the Melbourne media, as judge, Stuart Read made several comments about the 'noise level' at the court house.

Beth served the city of Melbourne for over two years. During that time, she hired a new Deputy Şükriye Goodall, the citizens became disheartened with the government and made their dissatisfaction known. As a result, Kim Browne, Van Johnstone stepped down from their elected positions and in support, Beth stepped down also. She stayed on as a police officer to assist Şükriye Goodall in her new role as Chief of Police.

In Year 40, after much time had passed, Beth rejoined Melbourne's community and applied for citizenship. Beth settled back into community life, and Marie-Jeanne Navarro, wished to step out of the Chief of Police role. Beth applied for the job once again, under Mayor Yuri Michaels. She was successful - in Year 41, Beth became Chief of Police in Melbourne once again.

She was in the job for a short while, when she met Jonathan Lancashire. Their whirlwind romance, resulted in Beth's seventh pregnancy. Beth, re-evaluated her life and decided to resign from her post so she could spend more time with her family. She was succeeded by David Campbell, a former judge and Chief Justice of Singapore.

* Treasurer - Singapore

Beth took on the role as Treasurer of Singapore, in Year 35. Her first speech to the people consisted of her promising to raise the locale qualities, improve Doe mood and health and organize community activities. During her time, she built hospitals, car park and sold off factories for revenue for the city.

Beth Christou showed her softer side by organizing and co-ordinating the 'Belgrade Relief Fund' for the recently fallen Belgrade, which had been taken over by criminals who were burning down the city. Her good friend, Sara Hansen, was being extorted by some of these criminals who threatened her well-known pop club with arson if she didn't pay a large sum of money. Beth flew to Belgrade and proceeded to assist with fire-fighting efforts. Whilst putting out fires in the club, Beth noticed one of the arsonists stalking around with molotov cocktails, after a quick call to a friend in London, Beth was granted emergency special agent-ship and arrested the criminal in question and he was transported to London for sentencing. He proclaimed that 'It was not over'.

Fast forward to August in Istanbul. Beth was hanging with her friend, Enrique Escarrer and chance meeting with - left Beth stunned as he barraged her with insults. He proceeded to pick a fight with her and left her laying on the ground injured. Reports say, the offender stood over her and pulled a gun. He pulled the trigger and shot the Flamenco dancer once in the leg. It is reported that Beth choked her offender and hobbled away to safety. She was taken to hospital, where she was treated by medical staff.

The criminal that she arrested in Belgrade claimed responsibility. To this date, no charges were laid on the shooter.

*Emulsion

At the age of 18, Beth joined a punk-rock band called 'Emulsion' headed by her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Marlon Stone. During this time, she was also dating, Alicia Dugan, much to the curiosity of the fans. During the bands first world tour, (with other members, Bernie Ullman, Hugh Campbell and Sterling Newberry), a reported massive argument happened, which led to Beth being hospitalized and dropping out of the band. During a long stay in hospital, Beth was released, went home to Melbourne and Alicia joined her soon after. She released no albums with this band.

*The Mias

Alicia and Beth joined together to form the punk-rock duo, The Mias. During this time, Beth became very good friends with April Sherwood, who guided her through the skills of punk rock. However, during the time the band was together and briefly tour, Alicia became very jealous of Beth's relationship with then Melbourne's Chief of Police, Van Johnstone. After a concert one night, Alicia left and the band was no longer. The Mias released no albums.

*Ruby Star

Once her stint with politics was over, Beth decided to go into a solo career in a new genre, Flamenco. Ruby Star was born and completed several World Tours. Ruby Star played their first decent show in Izmir on 25/04/08 and her first nice show in London on 07/07/08. Ruby Star released two singles as a solo artist, 'Bye, Bye, Bye' a three star recorded that sold over 40,000 and 'Life is a Melodi', a three star record. 'Autobiography' a three star album and the first and only album released from Ruby Star as a solo artist.

Ruby Star took on many different faces with Dana Stone joining the band on the 17 of July 2008. Their first show together as a duo was in Istanbul, 29 July 2008. Dana worked hard and the fans were thrilled when Dana gave birth to her first daughter, Stormy Stone, with husband, Marlon Stone. Shortly after the birth of Stormy, Dana fell pregnant again and gave birth to a beautiful son, named Elmo Stone. After the birth, Dana felt it was time to go out on her own and parted ways with Ruby Star. In the press release, the girls said that they remain the best of friends. This was proven with Beth nominating Dana as her daughter, Tilly,'s godmother and the matron of honour at her nuptials with Dean Goldsmith.

Ruby Star's first single as a duo was released, titled 'Slut Me'. It was the best single to date that the band has released and has sold almost 50,000. After Dana's departure, Wes Browne joined the band as a goblet drummer and acoustic guitarist. They released their first album to critical acclaim.

The duo went on tour with the Flamenco World tour, and performed a show almost everyday. Half way through the tour, Beth was unhappy about the direction of the band and expressed her frustration about the Flamenco genre. When the Flamenco tour wrapped up, Beth made the decision to leave the Flamenco genre and reassess her options.

*Post Nuclear Romance

Whilst examining her options, Beth and Jonathan Lancashire began to date. Jonathan was disheartened with the current status of his band, and Beth was desperate to return to her punk rock beginnings. The two decided to come together and form Post Nuclear Romance. Just before embarking on their first tour together, they decided to take the plunge and tie the knot.

Together, the duo achieved some great things, performing their first awesome show together in Shanghai and then their first wonderful show together in Jonathan's hometown of Sofia. They also took out the honour of winning the Toronto Hall of Fame Festival in Year 46.

They've released many albums and singles to critical acclaim, ranked four to five stars.

In Year 48, the couple released a statement advising that the band was splitting up and that the show in Barcelona was their last show. They performed a terrific show, and Beth was seen leaving the venue in tears.

*Delicious Liaisons

Beth’s most successful band to date, in the wake of her failed band and relationship with John Lancashire, her good friend Neil Johnson was experiencing the same thing. Neil, fresh from a surfing accident and divorce, the duo spent a lot of time in Rio and decided to form a band. Delicious Liaisons was formed and the two friends spent a tremendous amount of time pouring their heartbreak and creative energy into their new joint venture.

They climbed the charts quickly reaching the 20th position (highest to date) and were stoked when they released their first GOD-SMACKING album. Together they have performed consistent perfect, revolutionary & mind-melting shows.

For Beth, this has been a career highlight for her as it has been a real opportunity for her to shine.

*Marlon Stone

Since they were teenagers, Marlon and Beth had an on-again, off-again relationship. They established Emulsion together and were an upcoming Punk Rock band. One day, on tour, Beth and Marlon had a massive fight. Beth was hospitalised for depression and she quit the band. After the bands tour was finished, Marlon and Beth hooked up again, and an alcohol fuelled night resulted in Beth becoming pregnant. The couple welcomed their first child, Jackson Lee. After the birth of Jack, the couple were very much on. Only stepping out together and constantly on the phone with each other. Beth fell pregnant again with the couple's second child, and Marlon proposed. Beth accepted and they began to make wedding plans for after their second child was born. Melodi Ruby Stone joined their little family and Beth began to doubt the future of their relationship. When Melodi was only a few weeks old, Beth ended the engagement and the relationship. The pair remain good friends to this day.

*Kim Browne

After running out on her and Marlon's engagement, much to the shock of all, Beth married Kim Browne in a ceremony after Day of the Dead, Year 35, in Toronto, Canada. Not much was known about the couple, but it was believed that an open relationship existed as shortly after the nuptials, Beth had been seen passionately kissing, Stephen Smith of Snog the Dog fame.

From there, Beth established herself as a groupie, sleeping with top ranking artists like the Dean Goldsmith, Ed Keane, Stephen Smith, Luke Hall & Sara Hansen, just to name a few. Her exploits werr written about in 'It's Pop' magazine, Global Edition.

Beth filed for divorce from Kim, in papers filed to the court, Beth stated - 'Kimbo dialled me a pizza on two occasions and it was cold. DEAD cold. The biatch was trying to poison me or something! And then… we were married for a whole year and what do I get for marrying the hag? Nothing! Zilch! Nada! I feel so cheated! She frauded our loveless marriage!'. There wa no response from Kim, but insiders say, that Kim wanted to fight the filing and keep the marriage intact. Beth was seeking alimony and the couple have no children together.

Finally after months of battling in court, Kim and Beth came to an agreement and the divorce was finalised. The details of the arrangement were sealed and not released the public. Beth released this statement to her fans; 'I am extremely saddened that an end of an era came to a close today. But I am happy that I am free of the evil witch that has imprisoned my soul for the last two years. I am a butterfly!' Kim refused to comment on the situation.

*Dean Goldsmith

Beth was spending a lot of time with Dean Goldsmith of Snog the Dog fame. Whilst both denied any serious relationship, they were often seen out to dinner and leaving hotels together hand in hand. They were caught in a cosy moment at the airport, in which both became visibly annoyed at the paparazzi intrusion. Both remained tight-lipped about the relationship, but it was assumed it was serious after Beth adopted Lucius, Dean's son from a previous relationship. After lots of rumours, Beth and Dean finally announced and confirmed their relationship along with their marriage. However both refused to talk about their private life in interviews.

After many years together and two daughters, Tilly Megan and Annabelle Lucy, Dean and Beth decided to take a break in their relationship, when Dean was hospitalised for an extended period of time. This was confirmed by Beth's publicist.

Sadly, after many years of fighting his demons, Dean and the couple’s son, Lucius passed away on Day 19, Year 47. Beth, Tilly and Annabelle were devastated by the loss and vowed to continue their legacy.

*Jonathan Lancashire

Beth spent much time with her job at It's Pop, and was promoted to It's Pop Global Editor. She met and recruited a young editor, Jonathan Lancashire.

The two hit it off immediately, Jonathan was going through a breakdown in his marriage - and was quite upset at this prospect. Beth keeping true to her promise to be there for him flew over to him and took him out for a night of fun. Whilst nothing romantically happened this night, Beth realised that she liked the young editor, much more than she was willing to admit.

A few weeks later, the two were caught out at several hotspots together. Both remained tight lipped to the paparazzi. Jonathan and Beth were seen in constant company. Beth took to travelling to several of John's shows in many different cities, and was seen taking his two daughters, Valentine and Aniela, out shopping with her own children.

Jonathan and Beth announced the pending arrival of their first child together at one of Jonathan's band gigs. At first there were no plans to marry, however shortly before the arrival of their first child, Jonathan proposed to Beth in the pages of It's Pop Toronto. A few days later, the couple's first daughter, Zoey April Lancashire was born in Toronto.

A few weeks after Zoey was born, the couple married in a lavish ceremony at Toronto Cathedral ministered by the couple’s good friend, Sally Dragon.

Beth fell pregnant with the couple’s second child, just before the wedding. The couple kept it a secret until after the wedding and celebrated the news with close friends and family. Beth gave birth to Mila Elizabeth Lancashire at Day of the Dead the next year.

Beth's gave birth to the couple's third child, Aiden Jimmy Lancashire at Day of the Dead in Year 44. The couple were overjoyed with their new addition and it's reported that they both cried when he was welcomed into the world.

Jonathan's first wife unfortunately passed away. Jonathan asked Beth to adopt his two youngest girls, Valentine and Aniela - which Beth accepted, promising to honour the memory of their late mother. This is the similar to what she did for her eldest adopted son, Lucius. In Year 48, Jonathan and Beth announced their separation. Beth released a statement through her publicist and pleaded for privacy as she grieved over the demise of their relationship. The couple remain committed to co-parenting their children and are often seen on tour together.

*Neil Johnson

Neil Johnson and Beth, long-time friends, experienced marriage break downs around the same time. Beth, devastated by the demise escaped to Rio de Janeiro where Neil was recovering from his surfing accident.

They announced in a joint statement that they were coming together as a band Delicious Liaisons and they were preparing for a world tour with sister band, Deify.

Shortly after this announcement, rumours began to swirl about the status of the duo’s relationship. With media outlets reporting that they had been spotted out kissing in public and on dates at various restaurants around Rio. They both refused to comment on these claims; however the heat was too much for some of their friends who decided to sever ties with the pair.

After many rumours, Neil and Beth released a joint statement announcing that Neil had adopted Beth's young daughters, Tilly Megan and Annabelle Lucy. Beth quoted as saying;

'I can imagine no greater person to assist me in continuing Dean, Lucius' legacy and honouring their memory. He is a wonderful father to his children and I welcome him to our family with open arms.'

In Year 49, Neil and Beth released a joint statement through their band publicist announcing that they were in a relationship and expecting their first child together.

On Day 14, Year 50, the couple welcomed Jesse Rio Johnson into the world. The couple through a joint press release announced the birth and requested for privacy whilst Beth & Jesse recovered from the delivery.

On Day 8, Year 51, the day before the Big Bang and in Rio, it was reported that Neil proposed to Beth in private and arranged to marry her that day. Beth walked down the aisle later that day, flanked by her sister, Ashton Waterhouse and her best friends Sylvia Mendoza, Chelsea Mark and Chia Gamez. When asked about it in a media interview after, Beth said, ‘It was a huge surprise! I never expected it but it just felt so right to say yes and to do it that very day.’

After they married, Beth changed her name legally to Beth Christou-Johnson.

In Year 52, Max's father, Michael Maynard unfortunately passed away suddenly. Michael and Beth's close friendship well known, Beth was devastated by his death. Neil openly supported his wife and Beth filed paperwork shortly after for Neil to formerly adopt Max. There was no statement issued by the couple in relation to this.

Beth has twelve children.

*Melodi Stone plays saxophone and lead vocalist in Second Generation Blues and has one son, Asher Marlon Cornell with Jack Cornell. Mălin's biological father is Malaki Maynard who passed away before Asher was born.

*Mia Christou is a doctor & Chief Justice in Toronto and is in Rebels Of the Establishment with Aaron Johnson. Aaron & Mia have one daughter together, Livi Johnson and one son, Riley Tyler Johnson. Mia also serves as the guardian to Maria Lluïsa Arzalluz with her good friend Louise Read.

*Zachary Dragon is a drummer & turntable artist in 12 Seconds to Nothing with his wife Holly Dragon and sister-in-law Angel Dragon. Zach & Holly have one daughter, Violet together & recently retired from public life.

*Tilly Goldsmith is lead vocalist & pianist in Mistresses of Mayhem with Annabelle Goldsmith & Saphirra Tiara Stone. She is married to well known colourful Nashville personality, Ricky Hadley and they have one daughter, Cobie Deanna Hadley.

*Annabelle Goldsmith is the electric guitarist & dancer in Mistresses of Mayhem with Tilly Goldsmith & Saphirra Tiara Stone.

*Zoey Lancashire is a member of the Los Angeles Police Department & is in a relationship with Sloane Avery Giordano.

*Madison Lancashire is a member of punk rock band, Less Than John & is in a relationship with Damien Donnelly, grand-son of the late great Robbie Donnelly

Beth also actively raised her niece, Skylar Adriana Smith. Skylar often joining the family on activities & family outings.
