The Situnayake Bukake

The Situnayake Bukake was the infamous event that lead to the birth of Niina Situnayake, daughter of Steven Clark and Charlotte Situnayake.

Background

Charlotte Situnayake desperately wanted a baby but had no man. A competition called Impregnate the Yak was organised in Helsinki. The band The Knights who say Ni! joined in and swept away all competition. A short while later all the merry kniggits and the Yak got together in a Barcelona park and one by one the kniggits climbed the hairy back of the Yak.

It did not take long before the news broke that Charlotte was pregnant. The odds pointed out Bernard Mackenzie as the most likely father-to-be since he had been the first to mount the Yak. On 2006-02-10 a baby girl was born. Despite Bernard being favourite with the bookies it turned out that it was Steven Clark who had delivered the money shot. Though Steven is the biological father all the members of TKWSN! feel an important part ofher life. Des Swink even wrote a song in honour of the event during Charlotte's pregnancy. The song Situnayake Bukake was later released both as a hit single and as a part of a full length album by The Knights who say Ni!. The song has also been recorded by Swink's new band Ze Evil Gnömes.

To honour the fathers of her baby girl Charlotte Situnayake named her daughter Niina.

Misc. information

  • There is an unfortunate spelling mistake in both the name of the event and in the song. The actual Japanese word is really bukkake.
  • Bukkake is the noun form of the Japanese verb bukkakeru (to dash [water]), and means simply “splash” or “dash.” The compound verb can be decomposed into two verbs: butsu and kakeru. Butsu literally means to hit, but in this usage it appears to be an intensive prefix as in buttamageru (“completely astonished”) or butchigiri (“overwhelming win”). Kakeru in this context means to shower or pour. The word bukkake is often used in Japanese to describe pouring out water (or other liquids) with sufficient momentum to cause splashing.
  • Bukkake is used in Japan and Tanzania to describe a type of dish where the toppings are poured on top of noodles, as in bukkake-udon and bukkake-soba.
