Developer News 2007-12-26 LA Zombie Attack

1960 people showed up in LA to get a piece of the action. 83953 zombies were killed despite a somewhat dodgy ammo supply… Read More»

This year's Day of the Dead saw the addition of the zombie tracker which made the hunt much more accessible for the casual player.

Next year there will be at least one guaranteed treat for each hunter so nobody will make the trip in vain. We will also have a real limit to the number of shotguns being used effectively. The zombie tracker will also be somewhat harder to operate. Please remember this as we're not going to speak of this again.

Developer News 2007-12-13 Genres of Clubs and Record Studios

The genre of your clubs and record studios aren't determined automatically anymore. It's entirely up to you to decide which genres you want your locales to focus on. Read More»

Together with this change, we've also redone the calculations for determining your locale's genre strengths.

The genre strength of a record studio is now determined by the global fame of the biggest artist of a matching genre currently signed with the studio.

The genre strength of a club is now determined by the quality of the shows and local fame of the artists playing there during the last year.

To help club owners control the genre strength of their clubs, we've also made it possible to decide if your clubs will accept public bookings from artists from other genres. (This only affects public bookings and not personal invitations.)

It's also possible to set a required city fame level for artists who want to use public booking to schedule shows at your locales. This will help you weed out bad artists who will ruin the reputation of your fancier establishments.

How does all this influence the game? We will see higher genre strengths for studios. We will see lower genre strengths for clubs. People won't be able to sabotage clubs by having bands (clones) from the wrong genres book shows there. But most of all, it leaves the genres and genre strengths in the hands of the players.

Developer News 2007-12-13 Changing your state

From now on, you will be able to manually terminate some activities that have put you into a locked state. To do this, simply go to your character page. If the state you are in allows it, a small link will appear next to your state. Be careful though - if you do this during a jam session, for example, the whole session will be worthless. However, this feature might come in handy if your band leader has booked your schedule too optimistically. Read More»

Please allow us to add a little reminder of what the rules say about overbooking. When booking events for your character, such as jam sessions and performances, you should always leave at least an extra hour between the events to make sure your character has enough time to get everything done. Jam and Studio sessions do not follow an exact time frame, and we're all brutally aware of the quality of some of the highways nowadays.

Developer News 2007-12-11 Artist Crew Reminder

Just a brief reminder that Artist Crews are now up and running. This will affect your market segment popularity, Stage Equipment, Mood & Health Levels, bus travels, groupies, etc. Read More»

Roadies are not yet fully operational. Roadies will be activated in a couple of weeks so that everyone will have time to adjust their schedules accordingly.

Developer News 2007-12-10 Minor downtime Wednesday

Wednesday the 12th of December, at 09:00 CET, we'll go offline for approximately 30 minutes in order to update our db server. We'll do our very best not to affect concerts or travelling plans. Thank you for your patience.

Developer News 2007-12-06 Bank Tweak

Whenever a bank now gives away a loan, it must immediately restore the lost money by adding the amount of the loan to the deposit fund. Stay tuned for more changes to improve the much neglected banking system.

Developer News 2007-12-05 The Artist Crew

On Tuesday of next week, we'll go live with the artist crew stuff. ALL different crew types will matter from the start, so you might want to hire some of the basic ones right away. Read More»

Roadies will have one of their most important features disabled in the beginning, though. The number of roadies you have won't influence the time it takes to rig the stage for a show. Until you've all had time to adjust your touring schedules, you will continue to be able to unload your trucks instantly.

Take a look at the new “Artist Crew” section (found under “The Artist”) in the rules for more information about what the different crew types do.

Developer News 2007-12-04 Market Segment Artist Popularity Tweak

We've redone the system which calculates your artist's market segment popularity. Instead of relying on the genre of music you play on stage, the system now relies more on those genres that are represented on your records, and also on your level of fame throughout the world. Read More»

This makes it somewhat more difficult to maintain a high market segment popularity, and it will most likely result in somewhat smaller record sales as well.

And for those of your reading between the lines - these seemingly bizarre changes to the very foundation of our universe can mean only one thing… the frog is back!

Stay tuned for more music updates as this will be his focus from now on.

Developer News 2007-12-03 Weekend link manipulation

All artist members (at least everyone who has reported it) that was affected by the evil link manipulator this weekend have been reinstated in their bands now. The artist's fame drop has also been restored.

Game World News 2007-11-30 Christmas came early this year!

At 8:39 pm on Thursday the world’s first Popomundo baby was born in real life. The proud and happy parents Chad Park and Krisje van Scherpenzeel delivered a beautiful baby boy named Sam! The little miracle weighed in at 3600 grams and was 50 centimetres long. Read More»

Chad and Krisje met through Popomundo. We are quite thrilled and happy that this little game of ours has contributed to a new life!

On behalf of the entire Popomundo community we want to express our warmest congratulations to the three of them!

Developer News 2007-11-28 Community Event Calendar

We've added a simple but useful Community Event Calendar, available straight from the community menu. The main purpose of this calendar is to offer the opportunity to spread the word about real life events such as Popomundo meetings, Concerts or festivals. Also, developer announcements such as (planned) downtime or ingame festivals etc will be scheduled here as well. Read More»

Please note that since this calendar contains player created content, it is not controlled by the people behind Popomundo and we can't guarantee its quality. Events with content that don't adhere to the simple Rules of Conduct will be removed.

Developer News 2007-11-28 What should we call our baby? (Part 2)

We asked for your help and boy did we get it! The amount of suggestions greatly exceeded all our expectations, and we are truly grateful for the 2000+ suggestions we received. Read More»

It took some time to work through the huge pile of names, but now it’s time to take things to the next level.

In order to get there we would like to know how you feel about the suggestions, so on Friday all VIP’s will receive a link to a survey where some of the best suggestions will be listed. You don’t have to cast your vote right away, but don’t wait too long since the survey ends after one week.

Developer News 2007-11-22 Ear plugs

Ear plugs are now available in generic shops as well as car dealers. They can be really useful if your band is in the habit of crankin' up the volume.

Developer News 2007-11-19 Minor downtime Wednesday

Wednesday the 21st of November, at 09:00 CET, we'll go offline for approximately 1 hour in order to update our db server. We'll do our very best not to affect concerts or travelling plans. Thank you for your patience.

Developer News 2007-11-19 Saturday night engine

This Saturday evening we had to manually restart our db server due to some maintenance work. Affected concerts have been restored. We've also made it possible for those of you with restored concerts to see the performance score, and the show will be listed as “restored” instead of “failed” to avoid confusion. Read More»

Later this week we will do some further maintenance work on our db server to avoid these unexpected stops. We'll get back to you as soon as we know the exact time for this.

Finally we've also extended all active VIP subscriptions with 3 days to compensate for the problems we've had the last two weekends. Thank you once again for your patience.

Developer News 2007-11-16 Competition loophole closed

From now on all invitations to a competition will be cancelled if the competition is unlocked. This was a necessary countermeasure since the function has been misused to invite people to regular concerts more than 2 months in the future.

Developer News 2007-11-14 Shanghai & The Chinese language

Say hello to the first Chinese city in Popomundo, Shanghai. We've also added one more version of the Chinese language. A Chinese general forum is available as well.

Developer News 2007-11-12 Chinese payment system added

To make it easier for our Chinese players to pay for VIP membership, we've added Alipay as a new payment solution for Popomundo.

Stay tuned for more China related news…

Developer News 2007-11-12 Server Crash and cleanup

As many of you probably noticed our game engine crashed this Saturday morning causing a lot of delays and unfinished jam/-recording sessions. We've been now unlocked nearly all affected characters. Also, all failed concerts since Saturday morning until now have been given success levels based on the Artist's five last successful concerts. The Artist's Fame and Boost have also been restored. Thank you for your patience regarding this.

Developer News 2007-11-08 Locale auction additions

From now on it's possible to view the bidding history of locale auctions. Company owners will also get a notification when they get outbidden in an ongoing auction. Note though that the bidding history only will be visible on ongoing auctions and that older bids won't show up on auctions that's been going on for a while.

Developer News 2007-11-07 Marriage Addition: Name change

It's now possible for lawfully wedded to change their last names to the same as their spouse. You can only change your last name while you're actually married to that person, not after a divorce. You will always have the possibility to change your name back to what it was before though. All marriage matters are handled in the court house.

Developer News 2007-11-05 Welcome Budapest!

We're happy to announce not only the introduction of Hungarian but also the opening of Budapest, capital of Hungary. Lots of cred to Esther Arvanitis, Justa de Buitrago, Lawrie Howard and Lee Blunn who all have been working hard with the Hungarian translation.

Developer News 2007-11-01 Public Company Journals

As of now, all company journals are public information for everyone with a valid company license. However, personal messages are filtered out for those who are not a shareholder or president. Read More»

Why did we do this?

Nearly all the information contained in the company journals are public information IRL. And when pretty much the only people benefitting from the secrecy of the company journals were cheats and frauds we decided to let them out in the open.

Developer News 2007-10-31 What should we call our baby?

The game formerly known as Popomundo needs a new name. Since you are such a cool, clever and creative group of people we wanted to ask your help to find the right label for our project. Something descriptive, something fun, something zany or just something that feels right - what´s in a name for you? Read More»

Our aim is to find the best new name for the game formerly known as Popmundo. There are many factors that go into a good name; it has to sound good, look good, be easy to remember, not being obscene and work in many cultures. And that´s on top of not already being in use!

If you think you got the most marvellous name suggestion, check out this page! You must however be a VIP to be able to suggest a name. We will accept suggestions for a week, then review them.

Developer News 2007-10-31 It's finally over... again!

After a chaotic 24 hours Toronto is once more safe from the undead. 72571 zombies were killed in total, nearly twice as many as last year. Out of the 1331 hunters Juanjo Nieto saved us from the most zombies, scoring a total of 781! Read More»

This year we saw the addition of Master Zombies, shotgun misses, new items, and new forms of zombie attacks. Within the day we'll add the zombie kill counter to your character page.

Before next year rolls around we'll add a Zombie Tracking Device. Make sure you pick one of these up as they'll work a lot better than scanning random pages like crazy.

Developer News 2007-10-25 Co-leaders

There's now a possibility for band leaders to assign a co-leader to their band. Watch out though! The co-leader will have the exact same rights as the band leader and the band leader wont be able to fire a co-leader unless he or she resigns voluntarily. Read More»

You'll find the new option on your Artist menu below “members & songs→band leader”. Just remember the old proverb “Too Many Cooks Spoil The Soup”. Enjoy

Developer News 2007-10-25 Songs playing on TV & Radio

From now on songs playing on national TV will get daily fame boosts just like they do for playing on the radio. There will also be music video achievements handed out for the top videos. Read More»

Up untill now the Top Video chart was just a simple list based on the quality of the videos and the release date. It didn't actually influence anything in the game. This is no longer the case.

The new video charts will be calculated once a week like the radio charts. They will be based on roughly the same 10 - 12 things the radio charts are but the importance of each ingredient will be different. The video charts will be a tad more “commercial” so to speak.

Important about songs playing on the radio: With the addition of a real video chart in the game we've also take the liberty to lessen the video influence on the radio charts.

We've also started taking into account how many records you've released recently when calculating the radio charts. It will finally be real tough, if not impossible, to release multiple singles at the same time and see them all rule the ether.

Developer News 2007-10-24 Songs playing on the radio

As of today songs playing on the radio won't get a large weekly fame boost. Instead they'll get lesser daily fame boosts.

Together with this change we've also tweaked the calculations for the radio chart somewhat. So don't be alarmed if this week's radio chart update turns out somewhat different from your predictions.

Developer News 2007-10-18 Artist Ranking Chaos

The Artist Ranking system freaked out about a week ago due to the growing population of the game. We've now optimized this system so it should work better. Expect your rankings to be back to normal by tomorrow. Read More»

While we were at it we also lessened the importance of records somewhat when calculating these rankings. Especially the sales of singles.

Developer News 2007-10-16 Spam and Abuse countermeasures

We've now added a way for you to report abusive messages and spam. We've also added the possibility to block other characters from sending you more annoying messages. Read More»

Be cautious about handing out personal information such as email adresses, MSN accounts, ICQ numbers, pictures etc to strangers. You never know where this information might end up or how someone might decide to use it at a later date.

And like always… do not EVER hand out your Popomundo account information to someone. Not even if a game developer asks you to!

Finally, “false reports” and other abuse of this function will not be tolerated.

Developer News 2007-10-15 Career Missions & Your Character

Characters over 16 years of age will now start to protest when they have focused on the same career missions for too long. Read More»

This means that it's impossible to focus completely on a single career mission for a long time without suffering the consequences.

The first sign of trouble is a diary event saying “Sigh… Focusing on the same career missions all the time is really boring.”

This diary event isn't the end of the world though. Just keep in mind that your character is growing bored with its current career mission and that you might consider changing it to something else for a while.

If you don't do anything about the situation though your character will get more and more upset, complain more and more, and ultimately get severely depressed.

Changing your career mission briefly for a single update or two isn't enough to deal with your character's depression though. If you spent the last month doing nothing but talking to the media it will take at least week to get over it.

So how long can you focus on a single career missions without your character getting bored out of its skull? It depends on your age. A youngster is much more likely to react negatively from boredom than the old geezers among us.

Developer News 2007-10-09 Welcome to Poplove!

The game formerly known as Popomundo. Read More »

Why on earth did we do this?

The simple truth is that Popomundo means “obscene” things in most of our major translations. It's also hard for a lot of people to remember, spell, and pronounce.

For this reason it was decided a long time ago that the name would have to be changed. We thought long and hard about a new name. We spent hours and hours debating what the new name should be. But no name seemed good enough to replace Popomundo.

Early this summer the new name finally came to us!

We realise the majority of you will miss Popomundo. We did as well at first. But after playing the game with the new name for a while we've already grown accustomed to it. And now it's even looking better than ever. With time we hope you will come to love it as much as we do.

Welcome to POPLOVE!

Developer News 2007-10-05 With this ring...

Ok it's out! There's even a short text about it in the character rules which you might be interested in. So what are you waiting for? Go buy a ring, fall down on your knees, and pop the question already!

Developer News 2007-10-01 Tweak to Hitchhiking

As of now you will no longer automatically hitch a ride when you're on a travel route unless you've set your spare time priority to Hitchhike. Kids will follow automatically like always though.

Developer News 2007-09-28 Attention Mayors

As of today, when the people of whom we do not speak confiscate something owned by a company it will no longer fall into the hands of the city in which it was located.

Together with this change we also deleted all current locale transfers involving confiscated locales.

Game World News 2007-09-27 Russian translation back on track

With a lot of help from Pauline Costabile, Rahime Atakan, Esa Ruisniemi and Anton Donskoy we once again have a Russian translation of the game up and running. Thanks a LOT guys!

Game World News 2007-09-27 Who's winning?

Billy No Talent definitely is. They've finally managed to spend more days topping the who's winning list than The Knight who say Ni!! Read More»

Now all that's left of the Knights claim to eternal fame is that they allegedly had the best looking groupies ever. But that's a bit hard to prove.

Developer News 2007-09-25 It's Pop Achievements

We just redid the system for handing out the achievements you get for having your articles published in It's Pop. From now on these achievements are handed out when you get your first 5, 25, and 100 articles published. This way we hope to lessen the amount of really dumb articles submitted to the magazine to get the first achievement.

Developer News 2007-09-19 Company License for sale

The Company License is now for sale. Check out the old VIP pages to get all the details. The VIP/Company License combo offer has to wait a little while longer until we've got the necessary code in place to deal with purchases containing more than one product type.

Developer News 2007-09-07 Virginie Bour Rocks!

Virginie Bour contacted us well over half a year ago saying “Your Forum Javascript sucks… if I write you new code will you use it?” Read More»

How could we turn down an offer like that?

A couple of days later Virginie sent us a neat little package containing the nifty little code we now use for the HTML formatting/links when you write your forum posts. You should all try experimenting with it. It works a lot better than the old code.

Since we've also replaced the old HTML markups in the game a couple of weeks ago with the ones we use in the forum (for security reasons) we can now use this very same code on your artist, blog, and locale pages as well.

Excellent stuff Virginie!

Game World News 2007-09-05 It's Finally Over!

After a chaotic 24 hours Buenos Aires is once more safe from the undead. 37637 zombies were killed in total. Juan Antonio Teruel (who's hopefully sleeping in bed by now) killed 1018 of them! The city of Buenos Aires owes the likes of him, and the Trobaza Army who organised a large part of the resistance, a debt of gratitude.

Game World News 2007-09-04 Zombies in Buenos Aires

The living dead are walking the streets of Buenos Aires. Hundreds of people have joined forces to save the city from the attack. Over 6000 zombies have been sent back to hell so far. Scientists predict the attack will last 17 more hours. The local gun dealers have sold out of shotguns… let's pray they don't run out of ammo as well.

Developer News 2007-08-29 New Hardware Up & Running

We've got some new hardware up and running now. Hopefully this will keep the site running smoothly for a while. At least untill we launch another city in Turkey. ;)

Developer News 2007-08-29 VIP & The Company Licence

As of today the option to run a company is no longer included in the VIP membership. Instead, those of you who wish to embellish your Popomundo lives with additional features can choose between two options: The VIP membership which is aimed more at the casual gamer and the core game or the Company Licence for those of you who fancy the idea of running a business. Read More»

The Company Licence grants you the right to register and manage companies and company shares just like the old VIP membership did. For all intents and purposes it works the same as before, it's just not included in the VIP membership anymore.

The Company Licence will be sold at 25 US$ per year. We decided to not sell it on a quarterly basis to weed out the less serious entrepreneurs out there. This will greatly reduce the amount of poorly managed companies and locales that clog up our cities.

The VIP membership, without the company licence, will also be sold at 25 US$ per year. (It will also be sold at the regular price on a three months basis like always.)

We realise a lot of you think we should lower the prices a lot more now that we've split the VIP package in two. Let's not forget though that we've NEVER raised the price in the past regardless of how many new features we've added.

Current VIP members will automatically get a Company Licence that expires six months after their VIP membership does. This should give all of you ample time to adapt to this “new” system. We don't want anyone to feel like we're cheating them of their money's worth.

We'll start selling the Company Licence within two weeks from now. At this time we'll also start offering a 12 month VIP/Company Licence combo for the hardcore players out there at the reduced price of 40 US$. Which is still pretty darn cheap for a whole year of the complete Popomundo experience!

Developer News 2007-08-28 Life in Slow Motion

The site is running slowly right now. We've had to remove a couple of web servers temporarily. Things will be up to speed once we put them back online. Hopefully we'll have this done by the end of the day.

Developer News 2007-08-27 Play it safe. Don't use scripts!

If you're using any kind of script to “enhance” your player experience you might want to read the rest of this text. Read More»

Browser scripts, like greasemonkey tools etc, are frequently developed by cheaters to do things in the game which aren't meant to be done.

Most of you have no idea what the scripts you're using actually do “behind the scenes”. You could be trying to cheat, or aid cheaters, without knowing it.

Since it's impossible for us to determine if someone is using nasty scripts on purpose or not we have no choice but to treat all players who use these nasty scripts as cheaters.

So consider this a fair warning: we will start cancelling player accounts trying to trick the system in any way by using these scripts.

Popomundo was made to be played without external scripts of any kind. There aren't any official scripts around and we've never recommended the use of such things.

Developer News 2007-08-27 Minor Downtime

Tuesday the 28th of August, at 08:00 CET, we'll go offline for a couple of hours. We only need to shut off the web servers during this time though, so we don't expect the game world to be affected by the downtime. Thank you for your patience.

Developer News 2007-08-24 HTML limitations

We've made some limitations in the HTML formatting of user submitted texts. To enable at least some text formatting, we've decided to use the same Markup Language as we use in the forum.

This is quite similar to HTML and includes the most wanted tags. The syntax for this can be found here.

Developer News 2007-08-22 Regarding Companies & VIP

A week from now on wednesday (honest this time) the VIP package will no longer contain the possibility to buy, manage, and own companies and company shares. Read More»

For those of you interested in running companies we'll be adding a separate Company Package instead which will focus entirely on this aspect of the game.

This change will reduce cheating, the amount of phony companies, as well as raise the quality of the existing ones. It will also help us to correctly define the VIP package as a luxury package with features more aimed at the casual gamer and the core game, rather than a “hardcore” company package.

The company package will be purchased one year at a time. When it expires you will be able to keep your company stuff like before but your ability to manage it will be limited. This part won't change much compared to how things used to work in the VIP package.

Even though we separate the company things from the VIP package on wednesday next week we won't begin to sell the company package untill a couple of weeks from now. This will give us time to take care of any unforseen issues which might pop up after the separation before we start to actually sell anything.

We'll take a look at the pricing of the VIP package as well after this change. We will also make sure existing company owners/VIPs get a fair transition into this new system.

Developer News 2007-08-13 Keep it secret, keep it safe!

Always treat your username and password with great secrecy. Do not, under any circumstance, reveal it to anyone or leave it where it can be seen by Sauron and his minions. If you know you've been careless with it in the past, you should change it before it's too late. Also make sure your user information is up to date and has your valid email address registered in case you need to recover your lost account information. Read More»

Note: Popomundo will never ever request your password by e-mail or ingame message.

Developer News 2007-08-07 Welcome to Lion City

Since the 1990s, the government of Singapore has been striving to promote their country as a centre for arts and culture, and to transform it into a cosmopolitan gateway between the East and West. To help them out and to give Popomundo this very same gateway we hereby open the gates to Singapore!

Like always we'd like to thank Paco Alaez, Antoine Wainwright, Edith Edwards, Charles Poynton and Fidelia Pertejo who worked on the chinese translation over the last year. Good work people!

Developer News 2007-08-03 Tell us your opinion

There's a new list on your VIP user page. Click on VIP Statement (the link formerly known as “VIP text”) on your user page and tell us how you think our (limited) resources should be invested.

Developer News 2007-08-01 VIP feature: Draw up a will

It is now possible to draw up a will stating how your belongings should be divided amongst your friends and family if, for some reason, you pass away. If you don't draw up a will, your assets will be distributed to the poor. The Character Will is a VIP feature. Read More»

In the past, your assets would have been split up automatically between your friends and family, but now, you can specify not just those whom you wish to inherit your assets, but you can also determine the size of each inheritor's share. Only VIP members can draw up a will, but once you have created one, it will be used at the time of your death, even if you're not an active VIP at that time.

The feature is located in the drop-down on the relationships page.

NOTE: The Character Will setup feature is available now, but will not take effect until later this week. Also, it may take up to 24 hours after your death before your belongings will be handed out to your heirs.

Developer News 2007-07-23 Game engine mishap pt 2

We've now located the black box and found the reason for yesterday's engine mishap. Also, shows that failed during the time the engine was locked will get a simulated fair performance score based on earlier concerts. Due to this simulation the shows have been executed without leaving posts in diaries or artist journals.

Developer News 2007-07-22 Game engine mishap

At 03.00 CET Sunday morning our Game Engine got stuck for some as yet unknown reason. We're currently investigating the black box to find out what happened. Updates will follow.

Developer News 2007-07-19 Buying votes is illegal

Using VIP-payments to buy votes is something we frown upon. The fact that it gives an unfair advantage to the other candidates should be reason enough, but mostly, we will not tolerate Real Life transactions as part of this game world. In the future, there will be serious consequences against users violating this rule. Read More»

Buying votes using in-game means is bad ethics and probably illegal in most cities; however, as long as the corruption stays “in game”, it will remain a matter for local police.

This rule takes effect as of today, and applies going forward.

Developer News 2007-07-18 Items in Show

A new kind of very rare items have found their way into the game: Show items. Read More»

A show item can be added to your show setlist. It will then generate a rare event that usually (but not always) will affect the next one or more songs in a nice way.

However, some restrictions in terms of genre, melody type or tempo, as well as the skills of the one using the item may apply to it's use.

These are very, very rare and can only be obtained in special ways and/or at special places. They also have very limited amounts of uses, so if you should ever come across one of these little things, choose the time for using it wisely.

It should also be said that their effect has deliberately been made quite limited: they won't turn a bad show into a good one, and they won't turn the tables within the charts - think of them as something that will spice things up, not as a key to success!

A small number of these items have already been added (in special locations); more will be added in the future.

Developer News 2007-07-04 Old photographs

Starting today, old unpublished photographs (older than two game years) will start losing their colors and will eventually disappear from your photo album. This is caused by the quality of the cameras; it's also a simple way to lighten the pressure on our web servers.

Developer News 2007-07-04 New VIP Notifications

As a VIP member you now get an (optional) notification when your tour bus breaks down. You also get a notification when a blog that you have bookmark gets updated.

Developer News 2007-06-22 Character Updates "Fixed"

Developer News 2007-06-15 Downtime & New Server!

Developer News 2007-06-12 Companies & Locale Auctions

A week from now the possibility for players to buy companies will be removed from the VIP package. In other words you won't be able to buy a company simply by being VIP. Read More»

We're also considering removing the possibility for players to bid on Locales in cities where they aren't located or they haven't got a Head Office in.

Stay tuned for more details.

Developer News 2007-06-11 Popomundo Heart Montreal

Not only is Montreal the cultural centre of the French speaking North America, it's also the winner of 24 Stanley Cup Championships. TWENTY FOUR! Just in case anyone wondered why we didn't add Ottawa…

Developer News 2007-06-05 Help Support Popomundo

We're glad so many people from across the world have come to play and enjoy Popomundo. But we really need for you to support us financially by buying VIP memberships. Read More»

Popomundo's population has grown exponentially for some time now, and last week alone, we saw 16,000 new players enter the game. This is great news and there are no signs of this trend coming to a halt anytime soon.

The only problem is that our main database server isn't powerful enough to deal with Popomundo for much longer. Without a suitable replacement for it, the world of Popomundo will soon stop spinning.

The sales of VIP membership are appallingly low. People don't seem to realise that being a VIP member isn't just about the extra features you get. It's about supporting the game and keeping it online. Without this source of income, it's GAME OVER… or even worse, POPUP advertisements!

Anyone who buys VIP now to get us out of this tight spot will receive a special achievement as a token of our appreciation.

Now is also a good time for wannabe company owners to get VIP. Pretty soon, the ability to buy a company won't come bundled with the VIP package anymore.

Developer News 2007-06-02 Character updates

The latest character updates came a couple of hours late due to high load on our db server. Remember though that this system is extremely fair so in the long run everyone get just as many updates as everyone else. You always get more or less 14 updates each week and they come at random times. And yes, this means that you can occasionally have to wait more than 24 hours for an update. Oh, and have a nice weekend!

Developer News 2007-05-31 Newbie Points Tweak

New players now only get two Newbie Points per update.

Developer News 2007-05-31 Friendly reminder

It is time for one of those friendly reminders again. Read More»

Cloning Don't do it. Not only is it cheating. It is also really stupid, because you will get caught. If not today, then probably tomorrow (and then it will only hurt even more, because the character you have invested so much effort in has been transformed into in a pile of ash).

We are sick of seing all those lightning storms, because we know that most of all those characters really didn't need to cheat, and now all their effort is gone like *zap*. So, just… STOP!

Link manipulation It is illegal. If there is a link on the site, use it. If not, don't construct your own just to get hold of information you are not meant to have.

Being friendly The Popomundo Community can rightly pride itself as a generous group of people who want to have fun together online. People (newbies and old duffers alike) can visit the forums, and be treated nicely by their fellow Popomundians. Let us keep it that way.

Having fun Do this!

Developer News 2007-05-30 Visits to the Hospital

If your health or mood is running low, you don't have to wait to be hospitalized by the game anymore. You can go to the hospital yourself and have a doctor decide if you need to be hospitalized or not. Doing so will not only save you from the anxiety of waiting for an ambulance, but it will also speed up your recovery.

Developer News 2007-05-22 Save the children part II

There are now two new options for single parents. A single mother can request a DNA test if she suspects a deceased character to be the biological father. Also, any single parent can ask another (grown up) character to become an adoptive parent for the child. Read More»

To request a DNA test go to the regular “report father” interface. If the suspected father is dead this option will turn up instead of “report as father”.

To ask another character to adopt your child go to a court house and click on “custody matters”. If the father (or mother) of the child is dead you will get the adoption option. You can only ask one character once every week since it is kind of a big decision to make. An adoptive parent will have the exact same rights and obligations as a biological one.

Developer News 2007-05-15 Reminder from your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Purchasing ingame stuff from other players for real cash is a practice we frown upon here in Popomundo. No such offers or requests will be allowed anywhere in the game.

Developer News 2007-05-15 Tiny Tweak for VIP Citizens

All you generous souls out there who wish to purchase VIP memberships for your friends can finally do so. Read More»

All you have to do in the VIP shop is select the product you wish to purchase, choose not to get it yourself, and enter the CharacterID of the recipient. There is a new option in the character page (in the menu to the right) called Go to Interact. This becomes available if you are in the same city as that character. What it does: it moves you to the same location as that character, and then open up the interact screen. Saves you a bunch of clicks!

Developer News 2007-04-27 Ouch... Growing pains gave me 1 Experience Point

Kids once more get their automatic experience points… slooowly this time. Read More»

Once they've gotten all the points they should, their growing pains will stop and they will have to start earning their experience like everyone else.

If you've got one of the kids from early on in the game and the kid has already gotten a bunch of experience points, their growing pains will stop a lot sooner than everyone else's.

The important thing to remember is that all kids will get the same amount of points in the end. And they'll all get a few more points than a newly registered character. This means that a second generation Popomundian is both younger and better than a newly registered character.

Developer News 2007-04-26 The Serbian translation and Belgrad

Welcome Belgrad - capital of Serbia. Due to its geographical position the city has been called the gate to Balkan as well as the door to Europe. Although more informal sources might refer to it as the home of turbofolk music.

Big up to Dražen Katić, Valentin Glavati, Taras Kolosov and Kevin Attwood who through their work with the Serbian translation have placed Belgrad on the Popomundo map.

Developer News 2007-04-20 What's that vibrating in your pocket?

It took it forever to make its way out of the pipe but it's finally here: The Telephone. Read More»

The telephone comes with the following functions:

1. The Phone Book. A new & improved friends list with online notifications of when your pals log on etc.

2. The Phone Call. Stay in touch with friends out of town, in jail, or locked up in their apartments.

3. Popomundo Mailing System (Get in touch with your offline friends Matrix style.)

4. Online Shopping. Buy those items without having to walk all over town to get them.

5. The phone is also the new home for your notepad and bookmarks.

The phone is connected to a calling card with cash loaded on it. It has a memory capacity which regulates the amount of info you can store in it, and the signal strength varies depending on where you're located in the game. No signal will render the phone useless.

As soon you register your phone you'll get detailed information on how all these new things work.

The phone will be strictly VIP mainly due to how straining the Phone Book is on the server and the potential abuse of the Popomundo Mailing System functionality. This also means that we're going to remove some of the features of the regular friend's list which people have used and abused in all sorts of server wasting ways. Expect the old friends list to be downgraded shortly after the phone has been made available.

NOTE: if you don't want to receive any mail from your friends in Popomundo you can simply block them by changing your user preferences.

Developer News 2007-04-13 New Year Celebration

In order to save our servers from huge nasty updates New Year celebrations will no longer be automatic. From now on you'll have to manually set off your fireworks on New Year's Eve. Read More»

You won't be able to use more than one set of fireworks on New Year's Eve. So you'll only have to log on once to get the maximum mood boost out of this festivity.

We realise some of you get stressed out by these LIVE happenings. Please remember though that it's perfectly possible to do extremely well in the game without a maxed out mood.

P.S. There won't be a special New Year's Eve theme just yet since our illustrator is vacationing in India… lucky fellow.

Developer News 2007-04-11 Attention Company Owners & Mayors

Any locale which doesn't have any cash will now be unable to pay its workers. This change affects both player workers and Does. Read More»

Player workers who don't get paid will get a notification of this in their diaries. Anyone who doesn't get paid for two weeks straight will automatically quit their job. At his point they will receive a salary compensation from the city they work in. How much they get compensated is determined by the new city law “Guaranteed Salary”.

The default Guaranteed Salary is set to 20%. This means that anyone who automatically quits their job due to missing salary payments will get 20% of what they were supposed to from the city. Like always these expenses are paid by City Hall.

Does who get their cash on a daily basis will quit their jobs as soon as the locale cash runs out. And they won't return to work for as long as the cash balance is negative. Does do not get compensated by the city for missed salary payments.

P.S. It's no longer possible to order repairs to your locales either if you can't afford them.

Developer News 2007-04-04 Tweak to Halloween

There won't be an automatic celebration of Halloween on Monday. If you want to get the mood boost you normally get you'll have to log on during Halloween and scare your friends manually by using your Monster Masks as an interaction.

Developer News 2007-03-29 Player Created Scripts in Popomundo

If you're using and/or coding scripts not supported by the creators of Popomundo please read the following. Read More»

Generally we're against these scripts. However we realise a lot of you enjoy these scripts/functions which we haven't had the time to create ourselves or decided not support for one reason or another. We don't want to be jerks about stuff like this but the bottom line is this: If these scripts start to burden our servers, interfere with our business model, cheat, or alter the overall gameplay we will be upset and ultimately forced to take action.

If you're going to create a script which you suspect us devs might have a problem with please get in touch with us and we'll offer you our thoughts on the matter.

Please respect these wishes on our part and don't slow down the development of the game even more by forcing us to counter your work.

INSIDE SCOOP: If any scripts look up more than one page at a time to scan the site for information or update more than one thing at a time. Chances are we won't like it. These things usually strain our servers in ways we don't like.

Developer News 2007-03-28 VIP: The Default Setlist

You know you want it. It's been in the pipe forever. Now it's finally here to brighten your day. Read More»

When you've created a default setlist it will automatically be used for all shows which lack a specifically designed setlist. This can be an extremely valuable help for artists which tour a lot. All you have to do is make sure your default setlist is in shape and roadies will handle the rest.

From the moment you create a default setlist all your future bookings will be created without a specifically designed setlist. All you have to do if you wish for any of these future shows to deviate from the default setlist is import the setlist of your choice like always, including the default one, and change what you feel like or simply create one from scratch.

Important: If a show's setlist isn't completely empty the default setlist will not be used. It doesn't matter if you've only got one measly event scheduled for your show. Any specific setlist instructions ALWAYS rule out the use of the default setlist.

Developer News 2007-03-28 Imprisoned Mayors

From now on there are harsh limits to what an arrested or imprisoned mayor can do. Basically all he/she will be able to do is resign.

Developer News 2007-03-26 Time tweaks and VIP World Clock

We have (finally) tweaked the times in all cities of Popomundo so it should match their RL local time. We will do our very best from now on to keep this system working correctly whenever daylight saving occurs. Or whenever Superman rewinds time to save Lois Lane again… Read More»

However this also means that some of you have concerts scheduled at unusual times. Don't worry, these will be carried out as usual.

Along with this tweak we've also added a VIP world clock where you can see the local time in all the cities of Popomundo at once. Convenient, eh?

Developer News 2007-03-23 The Hittites named it Ankuwash

Stressed Popomundians refer to it as the city which messed up their world tours. The rest of us know it as Ankara, capital and second largest city of Turkey. With 28% of Popomundo's internet traffic originating in Turkey we figured it was only fair to implement this city. Tesekkür ederim.

Developer News 2007-03-22 Downtime friday morning

Developer News 2007-03-06 The child needs a helping hand

A little heads-up to parents, concerning sending your kids into the wilderness: Read More»

Whilst rock stars are infamous for letting their kids have a truly abysmal upbringing, leading to an addiction-drenched adolescence, there are limits to what you should put your kids through in Popomundo.

Sending off your 1 year old on their own into unknown gravel pathways is not recommended. The kid may get lost, unable to find their way back!

Developer News 2007-03-06 Pimpin' the game Popomundo style!

Tuesday March 6 at 06:00 CET we'll be taking the Popomundo web interface down for approximately 3 hours. Read More»

We'll be restarting our database and web servers in order to do some maintenance work. This won't affect anyone too much though as concerts, jams and travel departures will be carried out as usual.

If you think this will pose a problem for you please do your best to adjust your schedule accordingly. We're sorry for the inconvenience this might cause you.

Developer News 2007-03-02 Bank of the does

Last week Bank of the does was about to collapse. However when everyone had got their money back the locale decided to stay alive. So basically everyone got their money but the bank also kept everything AND no diary events where given out.

We've manually run the rest of the procedure now and your diary events should have popped up. We've also prevented this from happening in the future by safing up this procedure. Read More»

Big up to all of you who reported this and helped us locating this bug. Money put in to the bank this week will be returned in a short while.

Developer News 2007-03-01 Customs and Bus Terminals

It's now possible for illegal items to get confiscated from vehicles when arriving at Bus Terminals. The owner of the illegal items may or may not get a warrant issued for his arrest. A good advice for mayors is to keep the quality of their Bus Terminals high if they want to catch any smugglers this way.

Developer News 2007-02-27 Life on the road

There have been changes made to how the system keeps track of where you spend your night. Read More»

The basic rule is that you have to have somewhere to sleep each 24 hours. You can sleep at your home, or in a hotel or in a prison, depending on the circumstances. Some of this is controlled by your artist tour setting, just like before.

Most of it works like before, but previously, the system forgot to deal with a lot of people who happened to be busy doing something else. There will now be a larger consistency: The basic rule that you must have somewhere to sleep once each 24 hours is now being enforced more strictly.

Also, if you are travelling when the update happens, you will be considered to be sleeping in your vehicle, which is free, but not exactly comfortable.

Developer News 2007-02-26 Tuesday downtime

Developer News 2007-02-22 Bug fixed with Locale quality

We have found and fixed a bug with locale quality. Read More»

The bug was introduced when the first Company Home City bonus was launched, and had the consequence that locales in their home city could, once they had reached a high level of quality, get rid of most of the staff and yet not lose any quality! Obviously this is not fair, so although the fix will cause many locales to now drop in quality, we hope you can appreciate that every locale, whether new or old, will get the quality their staff and other factors actually justifies.

EDIT: To clarify: the bug made many locales have an unfairly/inappropriately high level of quality. Since the bug is now removed, these locales will have their quuality adjusted down (to where it should be).

Developer News 2007-02-22 Locale Condition Effect Tweak

The way a locale's building condition affects the overall quality of the locale has been slightly adjusted. Read More»

Previously, every minor change in building condition affected the quality. This had some weird side effects and is not how we want it to be. The following changes have now been made:

* The upper limit for bonus to quality from condition goes at GREAT condition. Anything above that will not affect the quality any more than Great does.

* There is now a low breakpoint at DREADFUL building condition - when the condition reaches dreadful or worse, the quality starts falling rapidly. An abysmal condition, for instance, has a huge bad impact on quality.

* In the range in between (in other words, from terrible to awesome) the effect of the building condition is smaller than it previously were.

This will take effect from the next quality update.

Developer News 2007-02-22 Mood and Shows Tweak

As of now it's not just the quality of your last couple of shows compared to the last show which determine how your mood is affected. How well you meet the audience expectations in each city is now also part of the equation.

Developer News 2007-02-21 You're either SWAT or you're not!

Special Weapons And Tactics operations are now available for the CoPs to order and administrate. SWAT operations are currently used to extract and arrest criminals which are hiding in closed locales such as apartments and homes. Also, there are SWAT gears available for pickup at every SWAT officer's police station. Read More»

In order for a SWAT team to be activated a stakeout targeting the suspect must first have been successfully executed. Stakeout success is determined by the policemen's skill level in undercover operations as well as the criminal's proficiency in disguise. In addition to this if the skills of the people staking out the suspect aren't high enough the target might realise someone is tracking him or her and will get a chance to escape.

A stakeout usually lasts a couple of hours. As soon as it has produced results the option to launch a SWAT team will become available to the CoP.

A SWAT turnout is quite similar to the Firefighting turnouts. A SWAT team of up to five members in the city will burst onto the scene and attempt to apprehend the target.

SWAT operations are highly likely to hurt both locales and the people involved and are not for the faint of heart and people obsessed with perfect health. Working on a SWAT team also requires the player to be VIP.

Developer News 2007-02-16 Citizenships and Politics

From now on it's up to the mayor of each city to determine from which other cities they'll accept new citizens. Read More»

This means that it's perfectly possible for the city of New York to only accept new citizens from Nashville and Los Angeles and refuse anyone from outside the U.S. to apply for a citizenship there.

The plot thickens!

Developer News 2007-02-15 Company Head Office

Each company can now build one Head Office. The Head Office is where the company president and some central staff administer the company, which improves the workings of the company. Read More»

Here are the rules for the head office:

* You can only have a Head Office (HO) in your company's registered home city. You can only have one HO. Any other Head Office will have no effect.

* Previously, there was a Home City bonus to locales in the same city as the company was registered in. This bonus is still there, although slightly lower. But on top of it, there is now a larger Head Office bonus. This bonus is dependent on the quality of your HO and the number of locales in the city. The better your HO, the more quality bonus. The more locales you have in that city, the more the bonus from the HO is spread thinly.

* In order for the HO to work properly, the company president should visit the HO on a regular basis, the recommended rate is at least once every two weeks. Less than that, the staff at the head office will get get confused and the quality of the HO will fall. If the president haven't visited the HO for a month, the HO will have fallen to truly abysmal quality. Note that this means an exception to how quality is normally calculated for locales.

* A simple visit (Move to locale) is enough. Also, if you are in the city and have “Work and save money” as priority, you will automatically pay a daily visit there without having to actively do anything.

* The HO can hire accountants. Accountants (who must of course have the accounting skill) hired by the HO are allowed to go through the accounting of all locales in the company (go to the locale, use the Special Actions link).

Head Offices will bring additional benefits in the future.

Developer News 2007-02-15 Articles & Copyright Violations

Submitting articles you haven't written yourself is strictly against the rules of conduct and most likely a severy copyright violation. Read More»

For this reason the Executive Editors can now issue arrest warrants on all people who submit other people's work. The wanted offenders will then be arrested by a police officer or special agent only to be dealt with by people in red robes and an uncanny fondness for bizarre forms of torture.

Arrest Warrants for Copyright offenses and Plagiarising are now global in nature as well. This simplifies the arrest of these highly unwanted criminals.

Developer News 2007-02-14 Changes to Apartments

Whenever you move out of a home nowadays you only get your belongings delivered to your person if you're in the city at the time. Otherwise all your stuff is dumped on the street by the landlord.

Developer News 2007-02-14 Minor change to elections

If your candidate from the first round of elections goes on to a second round, your vote will by default be cast for him/her in the 2:nd round (but you can change it). Read More»

From now on the following applies:

If an election carries on to a 2:nd round of two final contestants (because no candidate got 50% in the first round), then your vote from the first round will automatically be cast for the same candidate, if that candidate is one of the two remaining candidates. This is just a default vote, and just as before, you can still change it all the time until the ballots close.

Developer News 2007-02-13 Smuggling and Illegal Items

Mayors can now declare certain items to be illegal in their cities. If you try to smuggle any of these items through customs you run the risk of being arrested for smuggling as well as having the items confiscated.

With a screen print template you can print a line of text to your clothes. The item is in the new category “Art Supplies” which in a short while will be available in generic shops all around Popomundo.

The screen print template is a VIP item which means it can only be used by VIP characters. This is our way of saying “Thank you!” to each and everyone of you who's contributing to the survival of this game.

Developer News 2007-02-08 Special Agents

The Department of Justice in each city can now employ Special Agents. Read More»

Special Agents are used by the city to arrest wanted criminals that are out of town. In order for a special agent to arrest a criminal the following must be taken into consideration:

1. A warrant must be issued on the criminal in the agent's city of employment. These warrants are, like always, handed out by the Police Department.

2. The agent can't arrest anyone in the city where he's employed. That job belongs to the regular police.

3. The city in which the criminal is hiding must allow for special agents from the agent's city to operate on its streets. This is decided by the mayor.

4. The agent must be wearing a cool Black Suit available for pickup down at the Court House where he's employed. Simply go there to pick it up.

5. Only VIP players can work as Special Agents.

Developer News 2007-02-07 [VIP] Company President step down

Congratulations to Ronny Jansen in Tallinn, Edward Gerrits in Moscow, and Jamie Skinner in Stockholm. As more and more cities elect their Chief Justices Bernard Mackenzie and Des Swink will gradually step down as Global Judges. Read More»

Bernard and Des will help out the new Chief Justices for a couple of days each but after that they'll leave the cities in the able hands of the players.

Many thanks to both Bernard and Des for their efforts in the past. Take a look at the charts for Top Judges and you'll see the staggering amount of criminals these two have dealt with. Jeppe Lövhult and Steven Clark also did their fair share.

Thank you Des, thank you Bernard, and good luck to all future Chief Justices.

Developer News 2007-02-06 Chief Justice Elections nearing an end

The elections for Chief Justice are nearing their end. We would like to urge all winners to employ fair and honorable judges that will uphold the law & order of our cities. Read More»

Some final pointers for everyone involved:

1. It's NOT a good idea to hand out open job applications in the magazine.

2. Hire yourself as a judge first to see how it all works. Chances are you'll be able to deal with all the criminals yourself in the beginning since there aren't that many criminals around…

3. As Chief Justice you're responsible for the job carried out by your judges. Think about this long and hard before hiring someone.

4. As a judge, please take a moment to actually read the rules on how it works. This page along with all the other judge stuff will be linked to from the bottom of your character menu once you've logged on after having gotten the job.

Developer News 2007-01-30 Video Killed the Radio Star

Interesting updates to how Music Videos influence songs and radio. Read More»

Up till now there was one major ingredience missing from the calculations of the radio charts: The influence of Music Videos.

From now on, if you're seriously interested in doing well on the radio, you'll have to have music videos to back your songs up.

For maximum effect you should time the release of your music videos to match the release of your recordings.

In addition to this Music Videos are best released while the footage is still fresh and cutting edge. The boost to a song's popularity is greatest at this point regardless of any airtime on the radio. Delaying the release of an already filmed video for a long time will not impress your fans as they'll think the material is dated and boring. (This change in particular won't come into effect untill three weeks from now. That way everyone should have ample time to release any old videos they have tucked away and get whatever fame the are entitled to according to the old system.)

Developer News 2007-01-23 Chief Justice Elections

It's time once more to head down to the local voting booths for yet another important election. It's time to elect Chief Justices for all cities. Please do not take this election lightly. Like the other political offices it comes with great power and responsibility. Read More»

The Chief Justice will be in charge of each city's Supreme Court Company and employing suitable judges for the local Court House. All employed judges will have the power to convict criminals in the city they're working for.

There will be no judges with global powers and working as a judge will require a VIP membership.

The Supreme Court will be funded by the city just like the local police is. The bounty paid to the police for arresting criminals will come straight out of the Court House's pockets.

Stay tuned for more details as the elections near their end.

Undoubtedly this is good news for all you criminals out there. But there's also some rather interesting changes in the pipe for the whole legal system which will make up for this… but this is all you need to know for now.

We're not saying anything about special agents, swat teams, local city laws, and player controlled judges just yet.

Developer News 2007-01-10 Power Plants & Water Systems

Attention all politicians and locale owners! Time has come to pay extra close attention to the quality and condition of the local Power Plants and Water Systems. Read More»

From now on the quality of these two basic facilities will affect the quality of all company owned locales. This means that if your local politicians don't bother to keep the power plant in good shape it will lower the quality of the locales you own. (It will be impossible to compensate for this loss by hiring more staff.)

Fortunately, all mayors in the game have already paid good attention to these facilities and there's no need to panic. Most facilities were kept running around 90% of maximum performance. But just to make sure everyone gets a fair start in all this we've given all power plants and water systems a perfect quality and perfect building condition. The politicians will be responsible for keeping it that way.

Information on these facilities can be found on the City Details page under Basic Facilities. We've also moved the costs of basic resources to this new page.

Developer News 2007-01-08 Popomundo is on Fire!

Let's hope your local authorities are keeping their fire departments in good shape. Because from now on it's possible for locales to start burning when things go wrong on stage. Please read the rest of the news for more information on things that will soon become hazardous to your health. Read More»

In the coming days we'll also pull out the safety pin from other dangerous things that can happen during shows. This means that if you're not too keen on getting hurt on stage you might want to stay clear of potentially lethal events such as: stagediving, crowdsurfing, crotch grabbing, etc.

Please take this into account when designing shows from now on.

Let this also serve as a warning for people hanging out in clubs a lot. If you're not into getting caught up in a Wall of Death or violent Mosh Pit, you might want to stay clear of clubs where these things are commonplace. You might consider catching a nice, lovely classical act down at the local concert hall instead.

Developer News 2007-01-04 Fame & Competitions

Shocking updates to how competitions work. Catch the inside scoop and all the juicy details here! Read More»

Winning competitions boosts your fame. This is common knowledge to the Popomundian. But from now on your fame also takes a little damage whenever you end up at the bottom of the standings.

Like always when it comes to the effects on fame from competitions the effects are temporary. Just like the fame boosts from winning. In the long run it's still the quality of the shows that matter. Not how you placed in the competition.

This change doesn't come into effect untill one popomundo year from now. This will give everyone ample time to rethink any competition strategies they feel is necessary.

LIVE AID competitions are excempt like they should be. To balance this out there will be no fame gained from winning them either. They will serve as tools for the artists to support different charities. Not as tools for personal gain.

Important:

The old way of calculating the fame boost for winners was totally insane. From now on it works like this: If you're a crap band you get a lot more fame from winning a competition than you do if you're a top act. If you're a top act you won't have much to gain from winning a competition at all really.

The old system was also insensitive to the amount of artists playing in the competition. You now get A LOT more fame from winning a world championship than you do for winning a local showdown.

This change is effective immediately.

Developer News 2007-01-03 Brussels - the bilingual capital of Belgium

We are thrilled to finally announce the release of the Dutch translation of Popomundo. Big up to Debbie Davis, Eileen Thompson , Filip Hermar and everyone else that has been working with this translation over the years.

Also, since Amsterdam has been in Popomundo for quite a while, we decided to add the city of Brussels instead. Have fun!

Developer News 2007-01-02 Lyrics are now VIP only.

Due to the excessive amount of players illegally using copyrighted material or material that violate the Popomundo Rules of Conduct, we've decided to make lyrics VIP only. We're truly sorry to have to limit the game in this fashion, but monitoring and dealing with this issue is much too time consuming.
