Genre: Modern Rock.
Starting Date: 2005-02-10
Members: Pablo Buijing, Odriana Hallebeek, Joe Pinkney, Jay Bacon and Jackie Sprackling.
The Perfects started out as a duo by Pablo Buijing (guitar) and Odriana Hallebeek (vocals), at that time the band was still known as “The Doctors of Gonzo Journalism”. Shortly after their debut single “Cornelius” was released, bass player Joe Pinkney joined the group. In this formation they released the album “Dancefloor Romance” and the single “The World Domination EP”. After this release pianist Jackie Sprackling, a former bandmember of Joe Pinkney, joined the band as well. At the moment Sprackling joined the group, the band also decided to rename the band to The Perfects.
The Perfects released their second album, “We Are Law”, and the album did very well. The title suited the tracks that were on that album. The name “Pablo” appeared in 3 of the 12 songtitles, and a lot of lyrics, especially those written by Buijing, had a lot of 'ego' in it. Things were going well for the Perfects, they were storming the charts and all the singles and albums were selling well. Their success became even bigger when rythm guitarist Jay Bacon, who was also a former bandmember of Sprackling and Pinkney, joined the band. He and Hallebeek composed the songs for the single “Haiku / Something's gonna change my world”.
Success took it's toll during the “Black Album” sessions. Sprackling didn't like the direction the band was going, and he and Buijing had some major fights. Buijing kicked Sprackling out of the band during the recordings of the “Black Album”, though Sprackling agreed that it was better if he left. Since Sprackling left the band there were some holes in the tracklisting of the “Black Album”, so Hallebeek and Buijing wrote some more songs to fill up those holes. The Black Album was a major success, and the single “You Broke it in Two”, a song by Buijing about the departure of Sprackling, made it to #1 in the charts.
The next two singles might be seen as “concept singles”, written by Bacon and Buijing. The song song “The Beginning” by Buijing went straight to #1 in the mainstream and modern rock charts, followed by the other song on that single, “Intro” by Bacon.
The single that followed was called “The End”, and it also was the end for the band. The bandmembers were all happy with what they achieved with this band but felt the need to do other projects. At this time the Perfects were touring together with Disillusion, Sprackling's new band. Because of inner-band conflicts Sprackling left Disillusion 15 minutes before their show, only to rejoin the Perfects. Back at the original formation, the Perfects played a couple of gigs before they split up.
