Clash of the Social Titans are one of the top Rock acts in Popomundo, comprising Michael Maynard on guitar, Phil Duffy on piano and lead vocals, Marjorie Finnegan on bass guitar and Vera Rose on drums.

Clash of the Social Titans were formed from the ashes of leading Blues act Blind Peg-Leg Jefferson, picking up BPLJ's contracts, back catalogue and touring schedule. Blind Peg-Leg Jefferson had been at one time the biggest blues band in the world but were troubled by band members failing to turn up to gigs and an apathy brought about by having done the same thing for too long. As the group splintered pianist Phil Duffy and guitarist Michael Maynard agreed to fulfil the band commitments but as a rock group, with newly penned rock anthems such as Voices, Furniture of my Mind and They Won't Play This Song On Radio 1.

Voices hit number one in the rock charts and catapulted CoST into the top ten rock bands in the world. Five highly successful albums later and the band remains one of the biggest rock bands, selling out stadiums around the world on their almost constant touring schedule. CoST usually tour with Tribemates Senfantabulastic!, Kitten Got Claws and others. The boys claim this ensures a constant supply of willing groupies, though the female members of those other bands dislike being referred to by that term.

Soon after the seminal CoST IV album was released the group expanded with the addition of Marjorie Finnegan (ex Morrigan) and Vera Rose (ex Pocketful of Posies). Rumours that Duffy and Maynard were simply seeking better groupies than had been on offer recently were dismissed by the group's management who stated that this was clearly a musicial decision intended to drive the band towards a higher level. When asked if this meant the band would leave behind their cock rock past and become ABBAesque the group set upon the interviewer and kicked seven shades of crap out of him. Clearly Duffy and Maynard won't be leaving their hard rocking days behind them but it will be interesting seeing what changes occur in the group.

CoST's activities off-stage are almost as famous as those on, or perhaps more infamous anyway. Long tours are characterised by the traditional Rock 'n' Roll activities of imbibing various substances, getting drunk, having free sex with lovely ladies and trashing hotel rooms. At least it is for Phil Duffy, whereas Michael Maynard spends most of his time in the tourbus trailer changing nappies for his copious bratlings. As Duffy wrote in “Cock Rocking”:
