Formed by lead vocalist Edison Bouic on the 19th day of year 14, Abu JahJah & The Burqa's have become one of the most notorious punk rock bands in the world of Popomundo. The band started in Melbourne and was soon joined by lead guitarist Stephan Adamson. The band members soon found out that this wasn't a very good line-up, so Edison and Stephan switched roles and were enforced by Devin Frame (bass guitar) and Ernest Mack (drums). Mainly known for their spicy lyrics, the band quickly grew famous in Melbourne and the first single “JahJah Binks Should Change His Name” became a hit after being censored by the authorities for weeks. Slowly, but steadily, the band gained worldwide fame by their energetic live gigs and the show on Live Aid II was a first highlight in the career of these young punkrockers. After Live Aid, the band started touring the world excessively, broke their record deal with the failing TUF Slit Entertainment, signed with Stephan's new record label Prophecy Productions and were heading towards Popomundo Festival III, in which they failed to match the high expectations and ended up 21st. Abu JahJah & The Burqa's took part in the first Punk World Tour after that, which gained them both friends and enemies. This tour slowly got the Burqa's to the world top, eventually resulting in one of the biggest Popomundo hit singles ever (“Death to America”), two mind melting shows and a fifth place on the global fame charts. At some point the band felt that the audience cared more about the band's fame than about the message, so they decided to go for one last gig at Popomundo Festival IV, before looking for new challenges. This resulted in a fourth place and the band ended their career as the nr.1 punk rock band in the world with an incredible show. History has been written.
