Vanessa Adams confirmed on her official blog that she was working on a new studio album. All three singles, JUICY, FREAKY and愛証 ~unplugged~ were included on the album. The title of the album was confirmed on Vanessa's official site, confirming the title of the album was P l a y. The tracklist was confirmed on Vanessa's blog on September 14, 2007.

The album had decent sales, though it did not reach the success of her last album Get Down!!, that she released with ex-group member Christopher Bevan.
